Hartford, CT - Ted Stavropolas, associate athletic director for facilities, appeared and unlocked the gate to the softball field. We walked on the A-Turf field and examined the turf and the spanking new dugouts. Everything sparkled in the sunlight.
Brittney Stratton of Staten Island, N.Y., Rachel Clonick of Rochester, N.Y., Ann Kyze of Acton, Mass., Amanda Dilworth of Jackson, N.J., and Sarah Messinger of New Egypt, N.J., came through the gate in their softball uniforms, ready for practice. They are in the midst of their fall schedule. Soon more players filtered in. All agreed it was a good, comfortable home field, excitingly new.
