Syracuse, NY - Athletes who compete at Henninger High in the Syracuse City School District will experience an athletic advantage as they take to the field this fall.

Officials at A-Turf announce the completion of the new synthetic A-Turf athletic field at the high school. The upgrade to the 95,394 sq. ft. field gives the district a multi-purpose, all-weather, state-of-the-art playing surface. The field is home turf for girl’s lacrosse and serves as a practice field for football, soccer and baseball. A field dedication ceremony is planned for September 8th prior to the Black Knight’s first home football game against Union Endicott.

Henninger’s new field offers increased playability and provides optimal footing for athletes. Using natural grass as its model, A-Turf fields consist of a denser construction of polyethylene fibers and a high level of specialized rubber and sand infill to increase playability and lower the G-MAX rating. The lower the G-MAX rating, the greater the shock absorption and less impact to the athlete.

In fact, A-Turf systems have the most fiber strands per square yard – a claim no other synthetic grass manufacturer can make. An increased amount of fibers means less movement of the infill components, resulting in greater playability and durability.

In addition, the new A-Turf field is virtually unaffected by adverse weather conditions eliminating the need for rain delays or postponements. A benefit A-Turf President Jim Dobmeier says will serve Henninger well. “Having a field that can stand up to use 24/7 is huge, especially when it is shared by multiple sports,” added Dobmeier. “And when it comes to maintenance, little is needed to keep the field in prime playing condition.”
