It’s no secret that the safety of synthetic turf has been making headlines lately – and for good reason. We all want to make sure the products we buy are safe – especially when children are the end-user. We get that. Because not only are we field builders, we are also parents, who stand along the sideline as our children compete – often on synthetic turf fields.

Chances are, you have seen the recent findings by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) calling synthetic safe. Even so, it can be hard to read through all of the clutter to focus simply on the facts. But the fact is – there is much science to support the claim that synthetic turf is in fact safe.

But, what about A-Turf? What’s our role in the safety?

As a member of the Synthetic Turf Council (STC), a big part of what we do is to educate our clients and prospective clients about the benefits and safety of synthetic. The recent findings validate what we have long known to be true and what we continue to share with people who have questions. We have found that many initial concerns are quickly put to rest when addressed by honest and factual answers based on science.

We take every precaution to use only materials that are tested and proven. Throughout the years, the synthetic turf industry has developed and tested new pigment formulations to enable the removal of the lead.

Education is the best tool for evaluating the safety of a synthetic turf system. As a partner to our clients, A-Turf is committed to answering questions and addressing concerns that may arise. Certainly, the Synthetic Turf Council is also another great resource.
