New Turf Field In Place at EMU

Harrisonburg, VA – Installation of Eastern Mennonite University’s new synthetic turf playing surface has been completed. The first competition for the surface was held Tuesday evening, May 23 as the Shenandoah Valley Adult Soccer League season began under the lights. A new six-foot high fence still needs to be installed and some additional gravel and rubber layers need to be layed around the perimeter, but the actual playing surface is now complete. The field will be the new home of the EMU field hockey program, in addition to the adult soccer league and university intramural competition. The EMU men’s soccer team also anticipates playing most of its games on the new surface at night under the lights.
