Overview

The Demske Sports Complex is the home base for many NCAA Division I athletics at Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. Efficiently built on a 14-acre parcel of land and recognized as a model for urban college campuses, the multi-use, all-purpose, all-weather facility is home to a number of the Golden Griffen’s men’s and women’s sports teams.

The complex was built in 1989 and is named after The Rev. James M. Demske who served as university president from 1966-1993. In the summer of 2008, the complex got a major facelift when Canisius replaced the old playing surface with 123,000 sq. ft. of A-Turf® Premier system. 

Project Features

Thanks to their ongoing and strong relationship with us, Canisius renewed their contract with A-Turf, who resurfaced their sports field after 14 exciting and tough seasons of soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, and other activities. The average service life of competitor turfs is 10-11 years.

A-Turf managed the removal of the old synthetic turf field as well as the installation of the new turf field, featuring our Titan system. This system features the most durable fiber and carpet construction, and the world’s strongest primary and secondary urethane backing systems – yielding greater dimensional stability that delivers the best playing conditions for every field sport imaginable.
