Overview

Sahlen Sports Park, a 200,000 square foot multi-sport facility, features four indoor turf fields and two outdoor turf fields and is regarded as one of the nicest dedicated soccer complexes in the greater Western New York area.

A-Turf was chosen to install the two full-size outdoor adult and youth soccer fields – named Sahlen’s Flash Fields. After a thorough evaluation from the Sahlen’s project team of multiple vendors and systems, checking numerous references, and visiting and playing on several fields, the decision was made to partner with the A-Turf team on this great project.

A-Turf’s Titan S-50 system was installed, a premium surface dedicated to soccer that provides both pleasing aesthetics but most importantly, functions as closely as possible to some of the top natural grass soccer pitches in the world. The players and coaches were looking for a system they could rely on to provide consistent playability, ball roll, bounce, and footing no matter the weather conditions. The Titan S-50 system was specifically designed to do that, and it delivers.

Unique Project Features

The area where the fields were installed was previously a golf driving range facility, so a full transition from natural grass including all the drainage infrastructure, perimeter curbing, dynamic stone base, fencing, netting, and asphalt parking was required before A-Turf could install the turf field surfaces.

In addition, the two fields had to be installed under very tight time constraints. A-Turf sent a very skilled and knowledgeable crew to provide both a very high-quality installation while meeting the tight time constraints of the project. The A-Turf project management team closely managed the project and stayed in contact with the ownership team every step of the way. The field was ready weeks before the winter weather arrived!
